How and when was Hatch by twoBirds created?

Twobirds was created in 2007 when I was planning my wedding and realized there were no options for bridesmaids wanting to wear a dress again after the wedding. Then later in 2011 when I was pregnant with my daughter Charlie, I realized there was a similar void in the maternity world enabling women to look chic and feel beautiful in clothes they can wear again after the baby.

The concept of the collection is brilliant! Can you tell us more about how the pieces can be worn before and after pregnancy?

I’ve always been partial to pieces that are elegant, easy and don’t hug the body too tightly. Most of the pieces in the HATCH collection are designed to drape loosely but still compliment a woman’s body but give her the room she needs to grow and move. The idea is to invest in pieces you can wear now, during and after the baby so you can enjoy your clothes and not look at things as disposable.

Where can we purchase Hatch?

Hatch is currently available at www.hatchcollection.com. I’m building the company online only for the first year or two ro really understand where it belongs in the retail world.

Can you tell us your favorite pieces from the collection?

I’ve always loved the soiree dress as well as the button down. Both are so beautiful and I get complimented each time I wear them out.

What is your inspiration behind the line this season?

I LOVE the new pieces for spring! They are fabulous and easy and the colors are inspired by sorbet colors.

Please tell us how Hatch is involved with Every Mother Counts charity?

When I was pregnant I realized how small we all are and how life is so much bigger than us. I was less selfish and wanted to give back, and think other mother’s likely feel similar. When I was looking for the right charity partner to connect with I found Every Mother Counts which generated awareness about infant and maternal mortality in poor countries. Through education and a few simple tools, we can reduce this mortality rate by over 85%. Those numbers are just astounding and it was a no brainer to partner with them and for every purchase on HATCH, $5 goes to Every Mother Counts.

What can we look forward to from Hatch?

Exciting things! Spring is going to be fabulous as is fall and I’m very excited about some collaborations that are in the works but I can’t mention those just yet

Manic Monday

I am so happy it’s Monday right now and I can put last week behind me and never think about it again. Don’t mean to get all gloomy this morning but my kids have never been this sick before and I cannot believe we survived. To make a long story short, Ryder’s tonsillectomy was cancelled after we arrived at the hospital and was already checked in because he had a cough (that I called the doctor about 3 times) but better safe than sorry, right. Then little miss Siella had double ear infection after being on three different types of antibiotics and then eventually having to go on a nebulizer for RSV. Oh yeah and found out later in the week Ryder had strep throat. But luckily my kids are on the mend now. And the worst part of this whole thing was my husband not being here because he’s was away on business and not getting back till Feb 29th. One more thing it was also Valentine’s day and my birthday..need I say more. So when I click “purchase” right now on these Alexander Wang shoes I will not feel the least bit guilty!

My best friend Dawn just gave birth to a baby girl early this morning. She didn’t find out the sex during pregnancy which I feel is even more exciting once the little bundle arrives. In ode to your baby girl I give you these Petite Maloles. I just love the name as they remind me of mini Manolo Blahniks. You can never be too young for stylish shoes…

If you have boys, you know there is definitely a void in the market for boyz accessories. Siella is only 7 months and already has way more than Ry (maybe because I went a little nuts with the hair clips). So I was excited to receive an email from Dawn and Deepa and see these totally cool cuffs. Must get this for Ry.

Its been a rough couple of days on this home front. Kids are sick once again and Ryder’s surgery got cancelled today. We actually went all the way up to the hospital got admitted and waited for two hours till the anesthesiologist decided they would rather be safe and wait till his cold is gone. But I totally get it, just wished they told me when I called about it the day before. As I am finally sitting in front of my computer today, I give you this handmade cape by Teenytini. It’s the little things like this that brighten my day.

I am still in shock about my Stella & Dot business and how much it has taken off. I now signed on two stylists and actually have a team of two awesome girls. Unfortunately it’s leaving me less time to blog (sorry). But I must say it keeps me at home with my kids and I make great money in just working about five or so hours a week…perfect for any of you who want to go back to work part time. This may look like the cover of a Valentine’s Day card but it’s actually an assortment of completely edible cupcakes. My friend, Stacy, gave me one as an early birthday gift on Saturday night and when Ryder spied it the next morning, he dove right in. If it were up to me, I probably wouldn’t have cut into this little henna inspired piece of art. And lets just add that these cupcakes do not disappoint. They may look like they came out of the set of Alice in Wonderland but they are delish! Get them at Creme Delicious. Oh, btw… they do wedding cakes too!!!

Time is officially flying! My baby is no longer a baby anymore as she’s going to be 8 months!! How the heck did that happen! I wish I can freeze this age because its just so awesome. Shes’s already eating solids (well for almost two months now), starting to crawl, making these ridiculously cute sounds and I’m trying to savor every minute of it. Check out these adorable sippy cups that I found for Siella, still can’t believe she’s ready for these….
