Weekend Adventures

I really do live for the weekends, in fact all of us do. With Ryder in school full time, I count the days till Saturday and Sunday when we can have a non routine kind of day. Although our weekends are jam packed with activities, its times like these with my family that I treasure the most. Waking up on a weekend morning knowing that I don’t have to rush making breakfast, pack lunch, and get everyone dressed and out the door by 8am, makes me relax instantaneously.

This past weekend Jason was away on business (yet again). He’s gone this time for two weeks. The weather was finally Spring weather and we all wanted nothing more than to be outside. I finally broke out my Kickboard scooter. I’ve been waiting till the weather was nice to enough to ride. Let me just say, wow it so much fun. The kids are always on theirs and I am usually pushing Gemma around in the stroller. But this Friday, my mom watch the girls so I could take Ryder to his baseball practice. I never realized what a workout they are, as I was sore the next day.

On Saturday morning we headed to my parents house for the weekend. We usually don’t venture out much when we are there other than to run errands because we are usually there for only a day. But this weekend, we went to a favorite playground called Pirate Park. It’s probably the only park I take the kids to while spending time in Staten Island. The park is loaded with  tons of fun activities for the kids including a ship play yard, shark climbing, swings, and its right on the water where the kids can go and see sting rays (in the summertime) and feed the ducks. It’s tons of fun and we are looking forward to spending more weekends there as the weather gets nicer!

After our park adventure, we took a trip to a little pet shop near by. We usually stop there to check out all the animals, but this time we decided to add to our family pets with a frog and goldfish. The kids named their new pets Scooby, the frog and Daphne, the fish. It’s now Ryder’s responsibility to feed them everyday, with my help of course. It’s nice to see him having a chore he takes seriously. The kids totally designed the inside of the tank themselves, and I’m finding them stare at it, so proud of their project!

And if we couldn’t possibly squeeze anything else into our weekend. We stopped by to visit the Easter bunny. Gemma absolutely loved him. It was a total shocker to me because I thought she would freak but it must have been something about his fluffy fur that she liked to so much!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as we did! Spring break has officially started for Ryder so I am looking forward to a long week of laid back mornings.

    1. A Lonesome Walk “The loneliness of the Christian rluests from his walk with God in an ungodly world, a walk that must often take him away from the fellowship of good Christians as well as from that of the unregenerate world. His God-given instincts cry out for companionship with others of his kind, others who can understand his longings, his aspirations, his absorption in the love of Christ; and because within his circle of friends there are so few who share his inner experiences he is forced to walk alone.”- A.W. Tozer, The Loneliness of The Christian

    2. hey gina, i can understand how you feel! it’s hard to know loved ones are so very very far away. in these memnots i’m ever so grateful for the age i live in (which i am not always, but in this sense: yes!), that we have internet, emails, webcams, skype even so, it hurts to see people being able to really hang out with each other. i wish you much strength!
